Having a baby can be a wonderful experience, but it does create huge physical and emotional changes as your body gets ready for birth.

Maternity Reflexology is a specialised treatment that can be used at any point during pregnancy and aims to help balance and relax in preparation for birth - and the closer you are to your due date, the more important it is to feel relaxed.

Maternity Reflexology may also help relieve some of the discomforts of pregnancy such as:

Morning Sickness                                          Backache & Sciatica                          Heartburn & Indigestion
Symphysis Pubis Disorder                           Pelvic Disorder Syndrome               Constipation
Fatigue                                                            Insomnia                                              Mood Swings
Oedema
Cystitis                                                 Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Headache or Migraine

Best practice for maternity reflexology treatments would be:
week 1 - 12            1 treatment at least every 4 weeks
week 13 - 32          1 treatment at least every 4 weeks
week 33 - 37          1 treatment at least every 2 week
week 38 on            1 treatment every week until onset of labour

SPECIAL OFFER - for weekly or fortnightly treatments: 6 TREATMENTS FOR THE PRICE OF 5

If you have a history of miscarriage or unstable pregnancy, reflexology may not be appropriate - please call to chat it through.

Past Your Due Date?
Going past your due date can increase discomfort and anxiety. Although there's no scientific evidence to support it, Reflexologists believe that working on specific parts of the foot and leg can promote uterine contractions and trigger the onset of labour.  While it doesn't work for everyone, many women who have gone beyond their "due date", opt to try this natural approach in the hope of avoiding a medical intervention. Induction Reflexology is unlike a normal reflexology treatment and can be uncomfortable, but it is much less invasive than the medical interventions.

Induction Reflexology should not be undertaken prior to 40 weeks and clients should always seek permission from their doctor or midwife prior to booking an induction reflexology treatment.

And After Your Baby Has Arrived?
After the birth, everything changes - looking after a newborn can be wonderful, but also stressful and tiring. Pregnancy, birth, looking after a new born and, perhaps, the rest of the family can be exhausting.  Your hormones can be erratic, your energy can be low, your immune system can be depleted and you're likely to be sleep deprived.  A Post-Natal Reflexology treatment can help give your body a chance to rest and relax and restore a sense of balance to mind and body - and hormones.  The more relaxed and energised mum is, the more content baby is likely to be, so take some time out to care for yourself.  It's not selfish, it's just common sense!
