Today as many as one in three couples experience fertility problems, and of these, one in six will seek medical help with conception. Trying to conceive can cause emotional highs and lows that may easily lead to stress, anxiety and even depression - creating a very unhelpful mental and physical environment for conception.
Fertility Reflexology may be for you if you:
are thinking about getting pregnant
want to optimise your chances of getting pregnant with a "pre-ovulation boost"
are finding it taking longer to get pregnant second time around
have suffered from miscarriages with no known cause
are undertaking assisted conception (IVF, IUI, ICSI)
have been trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant for longer than 12 months (6 months if you're over 35).
suffer from a known condition (male or female) which makes conception more problematic
Fertility Reflexology uses specialist techniques which work to help support the endocrine system and promote relaxation. The training involves a study of the reproductive system and conditions or circumstances which can impair fertility, along with an overview of the medical approaches that might be appropriate.
Fertility Reflexology can be helpful when you are trying to conceive (or if you have hormonal imbalances such as irregular cycles) as it:
aims to bring the body and hormones into a state of equilibrium (hormone imbalances can lead to many conditions affecting fertility such as PCOS, endometriosis, progesterone deficiency and recurrent miscarriage)
helps to reduce stress and promote deep relaxation (just relaxing may not get you pregnant, but chronic stress can create a very unhealthy internal environment which may affect hormone levels and general health in both women and men)
provides a focus specifically on the reproductive organs and supporting endocrine system
can offer practical support on changes in lifestyle, etc that might boost fertility (lots of little changes can make a big difference)
Fertility Reflexology can be used at any stage of conception planning: from enhancing general wellbeing in preparation for a pregnancy; to balancing hormones to improve the chance of pregnancy; or getting support during medical interventions such as IVF or IUI. And Fertility Reflexology will provide tailored support for individual circumstances. The principle of Fertility Reflexology is that it supports the body and different protocols will be used at different points in the cycle to stimulate or sedate hormones and reproductive organs. In the case of fertility treatments, the role of Fertility Reflexology is to support the efficacy of the treatment and also help to reduce any uncomfortable side-effects while also helping the client to feel deeply relaxed.
Depending on individual needs and circumstances, treatments can be occasional (ie monthly prior to ovulation) or more focused (12 x weekly sessions), or any variation in between and are appropriate for both partners.
INITIAL CONSULTATION Understanding what steps to take to maximise fertility levels can be tricky - there's so much information available that it can be confusing. An initial consultation will gather as much information as possible about fertility and medical history, lifestyle and other pertinent factors for both partners. This can be done at the first treatment and will cover fertility and medical history plus a full Fertility Reflexology treatment and an information pack on how to boost fertility. This session can take 1 - 1.5hrs and should give the client a strong foundation on which to move forward in their fertility journey. This session costs £70 and any subsequent sessions will be £45 or less depending frequency of treatments (see below). "My husband and I started seeing Doris after we'd been trying for a baby for several years. Not only did I find the reflexology relaxing but I found her advice incredibly helpful - from how to approach the situation in terms if my own mindset and approach to more practical matters such as the impact of diet and exercise. It made me generally feel less stressed about the situation. We're currently expecting our first baby and couldn't be happier." (name withheld)
I'd be pleased to have a chat to discuss how I can best support you on your fertility journey. Just give me (Doris) a call on 07724 197627.
MALE FERTILITY Fertility Reflexology is suitable for both partners and Sperm Comet Testing also available.
