Treatments

Hi, I'm Doris Wylie and I've been practicing Reflexology and Indian Head Massage since 1998. I'm also qualified in NLP and Timeline Therapy and offer stress management training for groups or one-to-one.

I would describe myself as a calm and relaxed person and I think I can transmit that feeling of relaxation through my treatments. I often attract clients who are feeling stressed or “stuck”, or in a state of crisis in some area of their lives.

When I'm not juggling the demands of parents and grandchildren, I just love taking off in my caravan to explore new places in the UK and overseas.

Reflexology

Reflexology uses finger pressure on the feet to create balance and a feeling of deep relaxation.  It's simple and can be gently beneficial.  The treatment lasts for about 1 hour and you only need to take off shoes and socks.  It should not tickle or be painful.  A single treatment can be wonderfully relaxing, but the best results are achieved with regular treatments - having two or three treatments either weekly or fortnightly will help to kick-start the benefits and thereafter a treatment once every four weeks works for most clients.  Obviously a more intense treatment plan may be required when working with specific conditions.

Reflexologists believe that different parts of the feet are related to corresponding parts of the body and thus working on the feet can have an effect on the whole body.  In this way it can be described as a holistic approach.  There are 7,000 nerve endings on each foot and so working on the feet can trigger a relaxation response.  Reflexology also increases circulation and that, combined with the increased oxygen intake from the relaxation effect, can help to support the body at a cellular level.

By the end of a treatment clients normally feel deeply relaxed and often report getting a great night's sleep.  The following day they may notice an increase in energy levels and feel more balanced and better able to cope with life's ups and downs.

It's my experience that Reflexology is a wonderful treatment for people of all ages to support them in getting relaxed, boosting their overall health and wellbeing, improving their ability to cope, helping them through times of emotional turmoil and also supporting them with a variety of health challenges.

There is some solid research to suggest that Reflexology can help with pain relief - here's a link to an article in The Telegraph if you want more information:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/9981099/Reflexology-as-effective-as-pain-killers.html

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage uses deep thumb and finger pressure, friction and soothing effleurage as well as laying of hands.  It relaxes the head and scalp and helps promote feelings of well-being, leaving you feeling calm and relaxed.

Indian Head Massage is done sitting in a chair, fully clothed and uses no oils or lotions - so clients don't finish a treatment looking as though they've come through a hedge backwards!  Massage of the shoulders, neck, scalp and face help to reduce muscular and nervous tension and improve circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid.  It's a light, surface treatment and so is suitable for elderly or frail clients who often may have neck and shoulder problems but don't like the skin to skin contact of regular massage.  It's also a perfect treatment for clients who spend long hours in front of a PC as it helps release tension in that upper back, neck and head area.

Please give Indian Head Massage a try, because you might discover that this is the most relaxed you've ever been, sitting down.
